CheapBooks.com was founded in 1997 by David Tiberio. Tiberio attended New York Institute of Technology, studying architecture, and SUNY Stony Brook, studying computer science.
Tiberio was fortunate to start using the internet in 1990, and to start using the web in 1994, as much of the internet's web development was done by students at SUNY Stony Brook.
Tiberio first started using computers at the age of 11, a Commodore 64. By the time he finished high school, he was an experienced programmer, and had developed his own applications and games. In 1993, Tiberio wrote a computer reference manual, and founded Area 52, Inc, a videography company, which marketed and sold video editing equipment.
Tiberio was employed in 1996 at Grey Interactive as their first HTML developer, working on sites such as Sprint PCS, and web based offers for American Express, and The New York Times.
Later in 1996, Tiberio worked for Interactive Imaginations, which hosted the most popular internet entertainment site, Riddler.com. Interactive Imaginations was one of the top 10 sites on the internet, which was later merged with 24/7 Real Media.
In 1997, Tiberio worked for the largest internet web developing agency, Agency.com, and was one of the first 40 employees. Tiberio developed statistical analysis applications for companies such as British Airways, Lufthansa, and MetLife.
In 1997, Tiberio founded CheapBooks.com, which he still manages today, and has had 15 years of profitability, every month.
In 1999, Tiberio worked for DoubleClick, Inc, one of the top 10 internet companies, as one of the first 40 employees, in the product support division. Tiberio developed statistical analysis applications, and network monitoring applications for SLA's. DoubleClick was later acquired by Google, Inc.
In 2002, Tiberio was employed at email marketing firm Colonize.com, one of the top 30 internet web sites in 2002. Tiberio developed the email backend that allowed the company to keep in contact with its 50,000,000 subscribers.
In 2007, Tiberio founded CheapBooks Inc, a New York State Corporation.
In 2008, Tiberio moved to Houston, Texas, and opened an office in Medellin, Colombia. The following year, Tiberio founded CBKS S.A.S. in Medellin, Colombia, employing over 150 people, including customer support, graphics designers, and internet marketing agents.
Since 2009, CheapBooks has exhibited at the Bogota International Book Fair, the Medellin International Book Fair, the Miami International Book Fair, and in Puerto Rico. CheapBooks has been featured on Colombian television news channel NTN 24, and on PAX's "World's Greatest Businesses".
In 2012, Tiberio will launch a general product based price comparison service, to rival all competitors. The new service will offer price comparisons on all products with standard product codes, in all countries.
Since the start of CheapBooks, Tiberio has spent his time traveling around the world, including the entire US, Mexico, Canada, Jamaica, Bonaire, Guatemala, Belize, Colombia, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Indonesia, England, Italy, and Hong Kong. Tiberio has been one of the few people to fly over the Nazca Lines, to climb Machu Pichu, and to climb the pyramids at Tikal. Tiberio has hiked most of the Rocky Mountains, Adirondacks, and Catskills.
Tiberio develops CheapBooks.com from his Linux based laptop, with or without an internet connection, from anywhere in the world. Tiberio is also an avid videographer, and has filmed and photographed many of his travels. Many of his videos may be purchased from online stock video companies. Mr Tiberio can be reached at his personal email address, email@example.com.
